This magnificent estate epitomises understated elegance, comfort and
luxury.
The Lodge has six exquisitely appointed suites, providing a distinctive venue for discerning patrons.
This exclusivity ensures personalised attention and an unique experience for our guests.
As soon as one enters the tranquil world of Cornwallis Lodge, the cares of the world
dissipate. Our abundant Aquatic life, hikes along the coast, fishing facilities
and beautiful garden create an idyllic space to restore the soul.
The sparkling plunge pool is always inviting and the Lapa and Outdoor Bar is at your service whilst catching up on
your suntan or just enjoying a good book.
Outstanding conference facilities, with all the necessary modern technological requirements, allow for dynamic
synergies to develop.
Cornwallis Lodge is the perfect place to restore, revitalise, refresh and motivate staff.
Our Lodge is named after Colonel Charles Cornwallis Michell, who together with Michiel Van Breda designed and built the world famous
Cape Agulhas Lighthouse during the British Colonial occupation of the Cape of Good Hope.
The estate is built from Sandstone mined from the Overberg area, each
handcrafted to fit into its unique place. A reed thatch roof tops it off, providing the ultimate in cooling during
summer and entrapping heat in winter, allowing the smell of the ocean to pamper you all day long.
Our restaurant serves locally and Portuguese inspired dishes, all prepared on
wood charcoal grill.
The Overberg offers unique birding opportunities, and some of our
species like the Damara Tern, breeds at De Mond Nature Reserve. Stanley's
Bustard, Blue Crane and Secretary bird are some of the larger, more visible species present, while Southern
Tchagra, Thick billed, Clapper and Long billed Lark, Karoo Robin and Cape Bunting are common amongst the smaller
species.
Is fishing is your passion? You have a choice of deep-sea
fishing for the elusive Marlin, Tuna or those monster Red Steenbras hiding off the ledges on the Agulhas
banks. The annual Yellowtail migration at Struisbaai is legendary. If you enjoy Rock and Surf, or
fly-fishing we will take you to the finest Rock and surf fishing spots in South Africa to find Galjoen,
Musselcracker, Cob, Garrick, Shad (Elf), Wit Steenbras, Shark and plenty more.
